Reflective wrap troubles - Now Tip
« on: March 25, 2020, 01:16:41 PM »
Has anyone had any trouble with getting reflective wraps to stick on installation?  I got some of the trad gang wraps and tried to install them like I've done other non-reflective wraps (mouse pad, sticky side up and roll them on).  When I tried this, the only place that stuck good was the center of the wrap... leaving the sides undone. When I tried to get the overlap to stick, it created a bubble and since the wrap stick to themselves REALLY good, I had to cut it off.  I wiped the shafts with acetone and let them dry completely.   Any guidance would be appreciated!

Thanks and God bless,
Rodd

I have run into the same thing. In the batches of reflective wraps I have received from Onestringer, a few in the batch will simply not have good adhesive. Since the Onestringer orders of reflective wraps are generally more than a dozen (more like 15 or 16 in an order) I always got a dozen that work. Keep trying with your wraps. You might find that most of them are OK.

I discovered that occasional poor adhesion is just the nature of the reflective material.

Due to that occasional poor adhesion, I now use light-up nocks on the back end of the arrow and a 2-inch reflective wrap behind the broad head. Both ends of my arrows are easier to see, but I am only depending on 2-inches of reflective wrap. Your mileage may vary.

Thanks for the heads up....  I figured it had something to do with the reflective material.

When I first started installing them, someone had told me to roll them over a mouse pad.  Don't know if that was the reason, but I have never had any trouble with adhesion.  Just a thought.

Just had three out of twelve name brand regular wraps with no stickiness to them.  .  Rolled them on mouse pad and they started peeling right back off and they were in the middle of the pack. Haven't tried reflective wraps.

Ok...like I said, I use a phone book. BUT! Not only do I press hard but I roll them 3 more times after initial application roll.
