29”” drawon a 1957 Kodiak?
« on: April 16, 2020, 08:44:03 AM »
I am selling some of my Kodiak‘s, and I have a 1957, 60 inch, 59 pound draw, excellent condition Kodiak. The nice fella that is interested in it has a 29 inch draw and is 6’2” and new to Trad and Trad bows. . I worry about drawing it at that length on that particular bow of that age. Any opinions? I have a 64 inch as well and I think that would be better for him,But ultimately it will be his choice. I just want to give him good information. Thanks.

I assume your bow is a one-piece bow?  I have a 1959 Kodiak 60”.  It has a fairly short riser and looks to be fully capable of drawing to 29”. I would be more concerned about selling someone who is new to trad archery a bow that will be about 62# at his draw length.  One never knows when or if an old bow is going to break, and someone who buys one should be aware of and accept that risk.

I'd say shoot it. But echo mcdaves concern about selling such a heavy draw weight to a newbie. If he can handle it,  fine but the majority of people cannot when starting (yes, even too much if convering from a 100 lb compound).
Relax,
