Great Find in My Bow Pile
« on: April 17, 2020, 10:16:36 AM »
Two things...I've been reducing weight in a lot of bows recently and gong thru my bow pile, I just found a treasure I totally forgot about...Super Shrew Scout Lil' Favorite 54" 45#@28 by Gregg Coffee brand new/never shot.  I remember I broke one of these bows...well actually it was on the trunk of my car and I accidently ran over it backing up :knothead:  Anyway back to the future, It is now too heavy for me as I need 40# maximum.  So it looks like it will be slated for my knife grinder if I don't sell it...tippit

Ya know Jeff, it sounds like you have too many bows.
I tell you what, you send that bow to me and I'll dispose of it safely and properly.  :bigsmyl:

No it would be very easy to take 5-10 pounds off...probably what will happen once the shock of finding it wears off.

I would seek professionals to reduce the draw weight.
Super Curves.....
Covert Hunter Hex9h
Morrison Max 6 ILF
Mountain Muffler strings to keep them quiet
Shoot as much weight as you can with accuracy

I think Tippit is quite capable/knowable and a professional to do the job. He's been doing it for a while now and they are his bows. Good luck and keep us posted.

Jeff IS a professional at this with all he has done, and done successfully... he just doesn't get paid!  :saywhat:

If you can find it, there is an old thread here someplace about the method and painstaking effort he puts into reducing weight on his bows.  I was really impressed with his results and craftsmanship.

I would love to see this thread about how Jeff does it, any help here would be appreciated?

When I first read the line about it being destined for your knife grinder if you don't sell it, I very nearly had a heart attack, as I interpreted that to mean you would be chopping her up for knife scales. I though quarantine had turned ya right mad, haha.

Nice find Tippit, don't grind away too much, eh.

Thats a sweetheart of a rig.  Reminds me of a metal handled black widow HS I bought on eBay for a carp rig.  Had two sets of limbs and the guy swore he found it in his safe.  Claimed it was never shot cuz he forgot about it.  I figured "yeah right",    when it arrived it was perfect.  Way to nice to beat the hell out of it as a carp rig.  Sounds like it could have come form your bow pile. :biglaugh:

Jeff,
...or, you can send it to me.  I won't dispose of it at all....nor will I run over it, lol.  I didn't know Ron's warranty covered acts of terrorism.  Looks just like a 60" osage Super Shrew I once had.
