My names jack, I live in Santa Cruz California and hunt ALOT. Lately ive been doing some hog hunting, here in California we can't bait or night shoot so its all spot and stalk. I shot both of these hogs at 20-25 yards, I tend to prefer to take a 10 yard shot because the area I am hunting is very close (miles) from where the European wild boar were released for hunting. Its pretty rugged and the genetics are unique in this area. Anyways, they are pretty jumpy from the lions and other hunters...they tend to whirl off a shot which makes long shots pretty technical. I shot the small boar at about 20 on flat ground, the bigger sow at 25 or so steep uphill angle...both were hit back quartering away, not ideal hits. The sow went down in 15 minutes, the boar was a few hours (I let him lay, because I couldnt find him ahaha). I hunt with all different types of equipment, I build self bows (ive only made 50 or so) and flintknap...I do hunt with primitive equipment although I also enjoy shooting carbon arrows, ILF, wood arrows, cheap Broadheads and expensive ones...so far I am killing every hog with a different head...unless I empty my quiver, which has happened..those with experience know. Im on ace standard next...than VPA 3 blade. Ive only attached one photo below but Ill attach another once I get it uploaded to my computer.
Nice to meet y'all! (virtually of course)
