I had the opportunity to shoot with Dale, years ago at some local 3D shoots. I even managed to get flighted with him and a couple other shooters who were leading or closely trailing the leaders of the pack once or twice years ago. I used to shoot hot pink fletches and pink nocks to aid in tracking arrow flight and recovery from the neighbor's pasture/gopher fields.
I got a summer job up in Alaska and was able to come back and order a Trails End "Good Medicine" bow from Dale. His shop was close enough, that I was able to drive down to his shop to place my order in person and visit again for some final fitting in the grip. When I picked up the my finished bow he smiled and razzed me a little, he told me he had just about signed Made for "Pinky" on the riser.
Life, school, and work led to fewer shoots, but I would still see Dale at 3D events a few more times over the years. He seemed to always have a big smile on, was warming and easy to be around. I can picture him with his ball cap and backquiver on at a 3D event. And, i can picture him in his shop showing me my bow and some of the other bow projects he was working on. He will be missed.
Rest In Peace Dale
