Vintage Bear Availability

It’s been awhile since I searched for Bear Super Kodiak, Custom Kodiak T/D, Kodiak Magnum, and Super Magnum 48’s on E-auction site.  Having just checked, it seems not much is posted for vintage sale.  Is this just a short-term dry spell, or has this been going on for some time?

I've seen quite a few SKs lately, only one BB though in the past couple weeks.

The inventory rolls over constantly so the key is staying on it until you find what you want.
Prices are nuts IMO.  Just saw a standard Bearcat go for $200.

Agreed, Amberjack.  The prices I saw on SK's were jaw-dropping.  I hear you on keeping tabs though.  I guess seeing such a feeble inventory of KMs as well as others kinda got my attention (esp considering the high prices for SKs etc).
Anyways, I'm certainly not trying to raise any flags here; again, I've just been away from all the sales/auctioning for some time.
But still love all Bear's curves of bows of all models...& that random peculiarity of a given model that makes you go -- What!?! Wow!!

Yes.  I've fallen in love with just about every model of Bear from '59 to today...and owned quite a few of them.

I buy the legend and the story rather than the actual bow and enjoy them all.

It's possible the pandemic has dried up all the sales from private individuals for the moment. You could check with Big Jim, he usually has a decent selection of used stuff.

Check with Terry at the Footed Shaft also. You have to beat the bushes sometimes to get what your looking for.

There’s a group on FB called Traditional Bear Archery group. From what I have seen all the old Bears are there, well it seems so. Members do post “I am looking for a ....” Not all the collectors are hoarders. But be prepared to open your wallet.

A lot of the vintage inventory on the e-bidding sites are stuff picked up over the weekend by folks at estate auctions, garage sales, etc. None of that was going on for a few months so that inventory is down. Check craigslist in your area and , of course, the trad sites and FB pages where vintage bows are traded, sold, etc. Bear hysteria seems to be coming back..a nice condition but otherwise perfectly ordinary 1959 Kodiak went for $1000 last week, and lesser known models are also going for premium prices. In the meantime, a 1966 Browning Safari II , a gorgeous Brazilian rosewood bow that will shoot the gnats off a Bear's nose, went for $79 with only one bid.
