50’s Style Recurve...Which One?
« on: May 11, 2020, 11:14:47 PM »
I plan on buying one more 50’s Style Recurve as my last bow to purchasee so here’s the deal...If you were to purchase your ultimate bow in a 50’s Style, which bow would you buy. Money doesn’t factor into the equation.  Thanks

I've had a Great Northern Ghost for many years - a very good bow.

I have a 64" Kohannah Kurve on order which should be here in a couple more weeks.  Great 50s style.  Bob Rousselo has been building bows since 1986.  He presently has a wait time of only 4-6 weeks.  Good guy to deal with.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Big River, but John is no longer making bows.  Kota kill-Um would get my attention from experience I’m having with his D-shape longbow (PBS auction).

I really like my Holm Made Static River Runner with the Kodiak grip.  I like the best of all the 50's style bows I have had.  Others I have owned are the Toelke Chinook and 3 Kota Kill-ums.  I like the grip on the River Runner the best.

Toelke chinook. Two reasons. 1: best recurve I’ve ever shot and has 1950s style. 2: less than 6 weeks from order to delivery. Nothing against other bowyers but longer waits doesn’t mean better bows. Also Toelke guarantees within .5 lbs of requested draw weight.
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.
