125 gr broadhead choice

Hi, any suggestion for a 125 gr screw in broadhead ? My set up is using a 100 gr brass insert and a 125 gr head, or would I be better off dropping insert weight 50 gr and going to a 15 gr head. Also has anyone used the Steel force Phat head and the DRT broadheads ?

That is go to a 150 gr broadhead....To fat of fingers for the key board, sorry

In terms of arrow flight/performance, it won't make much difference how you configure (among the insert, adaptor, point) the 250 grains up front so you have a lot of choices. Select the head you want and then the appropriate weight inserts and/or adaptors to arrive at the 250 grains.

Orion, thanks for the reply. Whats your thoughts on a 2 blade head with no bleeders ? Seems like maybe with bleeders would make a better wound channel, or am I just overthinking again ?

I have used 125gr  2-blade Magnus Stingers with 100gr brass inserts With great success on both aluminum and carbon arrows.

I've killed a lot of critters with 4-blade Zwickey deltas.  More recently have also killed a few with Wensel Woodsmans.  Have also killed a number of deer and elk with two-blade Zwickeys and Abowyer single bevels.  Number of blades depends a little on bow weight. If you're shooting more than 40#, a three- or four-blade head would be fine for deer size critters.  Bioger critters , I'd be looking for more bow weight/efficiency and perhaps two-blade heads.

I am one of the hold-outs that doesn't feel the need for a real head head.
I shoot 125 screw-in Snuffers with the standard aluminum inserts with my XX75 arrows.
If I need to go heavier I have a bunch of old Bear Razorheads that weigh 145 grains.  I just find the Snuffers easier to sharpen.  Well, the 4 I have left....

For 125 screw ins I’ve killed with stinger buzz cuts and muzzy 3 blade.  I have no problem with hunting deer with any of the classic replaceable blade broadheads.

You have a 250 grain front end set up.  What are you going to hunt with the broadhead you chose? And, what is your draw length and weight?

I've been using 125gr. Snuffers and Magnus II's. 125gr. Zwickey glue-ons for my woodies. If I were to look at other heads, it would be Ace.

Dropping the insert weight down to 50 grs. or less would give you the most options for broadhead choices.

I can’t think of any 125 gr broadhead that I want to use. Most that I use are 175-250 gr including insert. Use an aluminum insert so you can use a heavier broadhead.

I've had good luck with Magnus Stingers and German Kinetics (Silver Flame) 125gr.  For the money, the Magnus Stingers are a good deal.  Easy to resharpen also.

I use various weights of Helix, a 2-bladed single bevel broached 125-200, depending upon tuning needs and my quarry.

I've had great luck with the Cutthroat single bevels in 125 and 150gr. Highly recommend taking a look at them.

2 blade: Stingers
3 blade: Snuffer SS or Woodsman Elite are my favorites
