I'd like everybody's opinion of the Blacktail recurves and maybe see a few pictures also

Ive had three. I shot the first one really well, the second one just didn’t fit me but the third one I shot very close to the first. They are exceptionally well made and beautiful, graceful bows. I think they are quick enough, and did I mention beautiful?

I just like to try different bows and have a self imposed limit on how many I keep around.

I have a really nice looking one almost to nice to hunt with. Just wonderinng. Dont hear of too many and almost never see them for sale used

I have had quite a few of them and I still have 3 on my stable. They are some of the best made bows not only for craftsmanship but also for performances. Most people don’t like their grip but once you get used to it you’ll find it a very solid and repeatable position for your bow hand. In my opinion in the top 3 of custom bows.

They are beautiful well made bows. I've never owned one simply because I'd be afraid I'd scratch it up in the woods. Too pretty to hunt with, too expensive to hang on the wall.

If I had deeper pockets I might try some of the others but Blacktails for me. Wish I still had the first three. But here's shots of my Stika and an Elite Vl I sold to help pay for the SItka.

The Sitka shoots a 9.6 gpp arrow around 188 fps, 10.2 gpp 183 fps. Looks and performance. Norm built his bows to hunted with in all kinds of terrains and conditions, not to be hung on a wall.

I love mine. Show us yours.

I currently have three Blacktail recurves. Two are Elite VLs and a Snakebit.
Great looking and great shooting.

I agree with Caccitore. The grip took me a little while to get used to, but when I did, it was a very consistent shooting bow.

For what it’s worth, a few years ago, I was in a hunting camp with a few nationally known guys. After watching me shoot a bit before going out for the days hunt, one guy commented positively on my shooting ability to another guy (unbeknownst to me.). Not bragging, but I really felt competent with that bow at that time.

You often hear people say a certain bow hits where they are looking. I would definitely use that observation for that VL.

I have a 66" VL Elite coming in 3-5 weeks...I'll let you know what I think then !

I do love mine. I was gonna trade it for a Widow because its too pretty i was thinking to hunt with. Ten i came to my senses, a few scratches just add character

All these bows will survive all of us. Why to have fear to hunt with a pretty bow? It is like to have fear to make love with a pretty woman 😂😂😂

At one time I had 3 Blacktails, currently have a one peice and a takedown, Elite VL's. I happen to like the grip from the first time I tried one. When I was looking for a takedown it took me a while but I handled one with a Myrtle riser so that's what I got. Not too heavy. The only reason I sold the one recurve was because it was getting a little heavy in draw weight for me and I wanted an amplifier for one of my instruments.

I have and would not hesitate to hunt with my Blacktails. I bought them for shooting and hunting. I did put limb skins on my Myrtle limbed bow. I find the coloration a bit light and like a bit darker limb coloration for were I hunt. Can't find the photos of the one I sold.

My Sitka T2. It’s at Blacktail right now getting a second set of limbs built.

Beautiful bows and super smooth. My go to bow.

Great bows ... mine went to my best hunting buddy when it got too heavy for my old arms. He liked it so much he bought two more for his boys. I really liked the grip for me

My first BT a 96 model #66 @30". Also first RH. Should've kept it and had Norm make some lighter limbs. About 20ls lighter nowadays.
I know there's more out there and we want to see those beauties.

I cant say enough about blacktail bows . norm Johnson has been over the top on service.i traded three bows at lamonts for my first . then it got replaced with the one in the photo ordered a second set of limbs and had checkering on the grip added at he time. I also got Blacktail longbow during all that .
the bows shoot great and if you want it cleaned up sent it to Norm well worth the money. just my opinion
