Woodsman broadheads

What do you prefer? Woodsman Original or Elite? Do you like the  harder metal the Elite went to? Any noise difference with the different vents?

No experience with the elites...

But bunny's to bison with originals and a modified pyramid tip.

I have them both and I see only a small degree of difference in the 125 grain glue on models. They both hit the same spot on my arrows. The Elite is a little easier to sharpen the way I like to do it. The Elite in the 125 grain is also a 1" width cut vs 1 1/8" on the original model.

At this point, I will shoot the original for turkeys (the only time I use a three blade design) as I don't see a real tangible benefit for the additional price point.

I have the regular Woodsman's and a quiver full of the Elites in 175 gr that are solid (VPA).  I've killed with both and have had zero negative experiences with either. 

The original Woodsman has such a great profile - in my mind it's hard to beat.  I'm not paying loads of money for a broadhead that doesn't bend when it hits a rock after passing through a deer... At that point it's already done what I need it to. 

Having both on hand I'd opt for the Original Woodsman if buying at new retail prices.

never sent one thru anything other than foam but the VPA or elites have a pyramyd tip out of the box, sharpen real well and seem solid. i had bent one woodsman real bad after missing my foam and hitting rocky ground , the ferrule bent on another after hitting a sapling ! ymmv
yet to mount and shoot the 175 gr vpa

I love the originals and have killed a couple critters with them. Last year I was looking for a little heavier option for an elk hunt and ended up with the VPA's....I think they're either 200 or 190..and have been very impressed.

I think they sharpen easier and stay sharper longer. I absolutely love how they mount, spin and fly. I shoot a 59 pound Firefly bow and my arrow is just under 700 grains with this head.

I did manage to run one through a young 5x6 bull at about 25 yards...it went through him so fast I thought I had missed. Even though it was not be best shot, the broadhead did the job and we recovered my first bull elk.

It was still sharp enough to go kill something else. I love these heads.

I have the originals and I really like them. I also have the VPA 175 grain. I like the original Woodsman the best. I like the profile of the original.

I have used the originals, and I like them very much. The only problem with the originals is that occasionally I have run into a pack of them where the grind is so bad that they cannot be used, and correcting the grind would make them too small and lightweight. So -- great heads with some occasional quality-control problems.

I have the originals and they have worked fine, they take a little attention to get and keep sharp. Very good head.

Great affordable heads.  Lead the way for vpa, and still half the price.

I have used the originals and the Elites in both 125gr and 175gr models.  A few years ago I switched to the 175gr non vented.  I have killed deer and hogs with them all and they seem to do well.  I have however noticed that the 175 non vented are a bit quieter in flight.  I have also used the 175gr and 250 gr VPA brand which are very similar and they also worked well.  My $.02.
