Gordon glass in stock!
« on: August 06, 2020, 08:51:48 AM »
Hey ya'll, Gordons has awarded us a distributorship to sell their glass...

We should have it in stock today or tomorrow, but are working on listing it on the site currently.

FYI... GORDONS HAS DISCONTINUED ULS GLASS !!!!! It won't be available in clear or colored.

I am receiving .040 and .050 black glass  in 1 1/2" width. For clear, i will have .040 and .050 in 1 1/2" and .040 in 1 3/4"

There will be quantity discounts as well and if you are looking for other sizes, contact me and I will consider stocking it.

I will still be selling Bear Paw glass for those who are looking for a more economical glass, but will be moving my personal production to Gordon glass.

I have built several bows recently with the "new" Gordons glass and am finding it to be much clearer than the current run of BearPaw.

I also have action boo planks that we will sell whole or cut, and additionally i have the following:
*stainless riser inserts
*brass bezels in large and small
*brass and steel limb bolts
*stabilcore
*and of course, a plethora of exotic/figured veneers and riser blocks

Thanks for considering us, BigJim

what are the dimensions of the whole pieces, and price?
It would be good to see all that on your website, Let us know when it's updated ;)

Hey MadMax, the actionboo is listed on the website now.  Still working on the glass.

I don't use deer antler because it isn't big enough to grind flat. I use horn that can be flattened with heat and for antler, I use moose and only use the palms.

Thanks, BigJim

Hey Big Jim, did Gordons send you any info designating how the "new" glass differs from the old glass, other than general product advertising material?
Polyone has pretty much eliminated the Gordon Glass part of their website, so no info there.

Nothing has changed other than clarity.... as I understand and have experienced.

Glad to hear that performance is the same. Something must have changed though, unless the clarity improved "Magically".

They have changed some of their product suppliers and their process... They also only run a couple or few times of the year due to weather impact on the glass.

This is the same thing that I was told about BearPaw glass in their attempts to improve the issues that they are having with the clarity.. They felt that certain weather conditions affected the clarity so ??? we will see if BearPaw fixes their issues. That doesn't however affect the inconsistency in spine of the BP glass.

BP is a great company though and I expect that in time, their Austrian glass will improve.

I was out of all my glass until yesterday. I now have all of the bear paw and all of the gordons instock.
Thanks, BigJim

Jim, do you know any difference between the UL and the ULS? I was told by Bingham's a long time ago that the ULS was a superior product so that is what I've always purchased. I guess I will be buying UL but am curious as to why they would discontinue the glass with scrim if it was their superior product.

ULS isn't a superior product.. it is nothing more than the addition of scrim to the UL. Occasionally the scrim can be visible and it is more expensive so they didn't sell enough to continue to make it... Lack of demand was their reasoning for discontinuing it.

The only supposed advantage to the scrim was to reduce the cracking between holes. I have used a lot of both the UL and ULS and never had an issue with either... but I also never could see a difference or an advantage in the ULS.

Thanks, BigJIm
