Bear kodiak or super kodiak
«

Looking at getting my first 1 piece recurve. I am looking at the bear kodiak and super kodiak in 40#. My dL is 29”. I have heard that the kodiak at dL that are longer than 28”. I don’t have a dealer close that stocks trad bows. I not sure which one to go with. Anyone have experience with both bows? What are your thoughts?

If you are looking for a dependable fast accurate bow the Super Kodiak can be your answer with a bigger mass weight on the riser section, if Fred Bear moved from the 59-61 Kodiak design a reason there must has been. The older Kodiak are anyway good shooters and they have their appeal. I like them all but the SK is overall a better shooter

I’m 6’4” and have a long draw. I have a 59 Kodiak and also have a 2018 super Kodiak - both great bows. I probably like the 59 better because of the lightness but that’s just me.

I have both and I would have to say you can't go wrong with either. To me, The SK is alittle heavier when holding. Slightly slower arrow but is smoother shooting then the Kodiak. The Kodiak Is my choice for hunting because of faster arrow and lighter in weight. Heck, maybe you should get one of each. HAHA Just trying to let you know the difference between the 2. Tom

I've had both over the years. If possible find and shoot to see which "feels" better to you. WE can't tell you what will fit you best.

I have had both and still own the Kodiak. I have a 30 1/2" draw and its smooth as can be at my draw. Also, the working portion of the limbs on the Kodiak are longer than on the SK even though both are 60" bows. That's because the SK has a longer riser. I'll take the longer working limb any time over a longer riser. The Kodiak also is lighter as already mentioned and works well with a bow quiver if that's your choice. The Kodiak is one of the finest shooters I have owned in many, many years of shooting and equal to any custom I have owned. I guess you can tell I like it.
