Virginia Opener
« on: October 06, 2020, 10:53:24 AM »
last Sat. was our opener.  I had this guy come by feeding on white oaks acorns.  My shot was liver lung.  So, I let him lay overnight.  Bad desision.  A bear had a feast. At least he left me his head.

Been there done that. We don’t have bears down here, but we have plenty of yotes. I’ve personally seen yotes make a deer look just like yours in under 3hrs from time of the shot!

Sorry you lost the meat, but at least he didn’t drag off the horns where you couldn’t find them.

Sorry for the loss of the meat Jeff, did the same thing a few years ago but it was coyotes that left me nothing. Tagged that doe anyway.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.
