Don't think so, Mark, they were more reddish before I cleaned em up in sander. Maple is more of a tan to me when oxidized ?

Hope they aren't too light for the riser but I'm goin with them.

Sawed the riser out while scarf gluing...

This is what the scarf joint should look like when done. I mark center of all lams on edge to line up with center Mark on form

I can't git a scarf joint like that on my 6" x 80" belt sander, I need to get a small disk sander with the sanding disk GLUED to it should do a great job.

This old beast uses a psa disc but the table is way better than most new ones for staying square to disc

I do them on a Rigid oscillator and find it very difficult to get good scarf joints. :(

Had some .050 glass that looked like the sanded side just hadn’t cleaned up when they made it, so sanded to .040 ,,,

Got it taped and center marked, also mark center on edge so I can see it during glue up.

Then a prob , while test fitting riser I found a bad grain in it...
