We’ve been battling warm weather and high winds. Finally the last two days have been crisp mornings with low winds. Yesterday morning was super slow for me while Huck saw a few and passed on a couple decent bucks. Last night much better as the chase was on! Huck had a very close encounter with a big 8 with w kickers but just wouldn’t take the last step into lane.
This morning was perfect. We both saw good deer from far and near. About 8 am I had this nice 10 come in cruisin. Got hung up about 14 yards out for a few minutes. Finally after what seemed like eternity he made his way passed me for a nice 10 yard quartering away look. He was an older buck and on the decline like me so it just seemed like after 10 days in the stand the time was right. It ended quick as the Elkhart did its job.
The last couple years I’ve had opportunities but for one reason or the other I’ve passed or not gotten the job done. So as of November 12, 2020 my drought is over. Hallelujah!
I have to say...shortly after taking this buck Huck and I checked a camera and there is a monster in our woods! So now....I’m just praying that Huck gets an opportunity for a close look at the big boy.
