Good Ladder Stand

Looking for a decent ladder stand that is compatible Wirth Trad gear.

Don't have a particular brand, but...

I would look at one of the simpler ladder stands.
Basic seat and foot step. No side rails or cross bars, etc.... Less crap to get in the way.

Try to find one with a seat that folds up. I prefer to stand for the shot if I possibly can and the fold up seat gives you a lot of room. I will see if I can find the make and model of the stands I have. I bought them after the season for less than $60 each for them. 14'6" from the ground to the platform if I remember correctly.

Woodchucker summed it up pretty well. I use ladder stands almost exclusively and use ones that fit his description. The only other feature I would add in is that it is on sale. I shoot from a sitting position with a 68" longbow with no problems. The trick is to sit with the left butt cheek (for a righthanded shooter) slightly hanging off the seat so the bottom bow tip will have clearance. I am not steady enough to stand up. Above all, use a quality safety harness. Practice a little before hunting with it to get the bow clearance issue squared away - it is not really hard.

I have found myself absolutely hating ladder stands. I switched to using climbing sticks the double step ones, where they stack, and a big portable for the places I would normally place a ladder, and I add a lifeline so I’m always attached. They are more stable, quieter, more roomy, and less squeaky.

If you’re sold on ladder stands just get the basic seat with the foot platform, no rails or arm rests..but use like a good gorilla tape or something to tape every joint because they rattle and squeak with most climbing and movements..here in Michigan the deer basically also see you almost every time unless it’s in a multi trucked tree, so they’re frustrating.

Big game. Came with all the arm rest and gun rest but threw that junk in trash when I assembled it. Large platform, flip seat and back to keep your clothes from rubbing the bark. Padded the rails with I/O carpet to prevent any accidental noise from bow limbs.

I have the basic Big Game ladder stand and really like it. No flip up seat, and the platform could be bigger, but for the sale price of $60 it works great for shooting my longbow.
