South Carolina Hogs
«

Hello All,
My Aunt lives in Hilton Head and I was thinking about a hog hunt while I was visiting her. Are there any places near there to hunt hogs? It would be my first time hunting hogs.
Thanks,
Mike

Savannah Wildlife Refuge, along the SC side of the Savannah River during a season. Lots of hogs in Beaufort and surrounding Counties but mostly on private land. Victoria Bluff WMA,Next to Colleton River Plantation(my old hunt club) outside of Bluffton has a few seasons this time of year but I don't think it has hogs. Maybe up in the A.C.E basin or around Bulls Island between HHI and Charleston.

Thanks Pat B. I’m not sure if I need an outfitter or if I want to try a diy type thing.

When is your visit, soon?
The public lands are being hit pretty hard for deer now, so the hogs will be keeping a low profile and may even be nocturnal. Cost for NRs to hunt hogs is MUCH cheaper across the border in GA....

There was a post earlier about Cypress Creek Outfitters(I thing that's the name) in Estill, SC that offers bow hunts for hogs. Estill is about 1 hour west of HHI along the Savannah River.

Nov Dec Jan South Carolina is shot out. Not to say a local couldn’t do well but we’re talking one in a thousand.
GA on the other hand does have good hunting for hogs on public land if you are experienced and know where to go.
If you are unsure about DIY or an Outfitter- for the months you need go with an Outfitter but NOT in SC - there aren’t any traditional Bow only outfitters. Best we stay away from outfitters that are not Tradgang sponsors. Your best opportunity is with Russell Outfitters in GA The months you prefer and if they can’t do it don’t go.
Unless a traditional bowhunting local guy is willing to take you.
