Massachusetts Buck
« on: November 11, 2020, 02:49:15 PM »
I took this nice 8 pointer on November 6th about an hour after sunrise. He came from a direction I hadn't expected through some thick hemlocks but it worked out better for me than if he had come from a direction I had expected. I had perfect cover in my stand about 10 feet up, he came in broadside at about 5 or 6 yards completely unaware of my presence. He stopped, I drew and let it fly, and missed right over his back! Don’t ask me how haha. He trotted away to about 15 yards still broadside slight quartering away and not very spooked, while this was all happening I was able to nock another arrow and when he stopped I drew and let him have it. He piled up about 50 yards away. Not a big rack but a nice almost perfect typical rack! And my second best deer yet! Bear Grizzly 50#, Wapiti archery port orford cedar arrows, Zwickey two blade eskimo.

Well done and great 2nd arrow.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Very easy to go high when they are that close... you kept it together and didn't let negativity enter for you second successful shot. Nice body and long face....

Nice buck!  Way to go keeping your composure after the first shot.  Congratulations!
