New Trad Only barebow shafts?
« on: November 18, 2020, 08:23:00 PM »
Wondering if anyone has used these arrows yet?

Designed for gap shooters and look to be based off the Axis shafts. If I can use HIT inserts I think I'll give these a try!

Just looking at Easton website under new products. Yes, there is a new trad Axis shaft but it doesn’t mention anything about for barebow shooting. It does mention they use the HIT insert. Please advise what you mean by “for bare bow” .

These are the shafts I was referring to.

Randy Cooling had mentioned them on the stickbow chronicles podcast so I checked into them. Not sure they are on the Easton website just yet, 3 rivers has them and Safari Tuff will shortly as well from the sounds of it.

OK, I see. Shafts made for 3R by Easton. No, not on Easton site.

I like the length of the arrows.  Will give them a look after hunting season.

It does look like the HIT inserts will work. They are available for 4mm and 5mm shafts. Not crazy about outserts I have seen them break off just behind the insert. I like the white shaft idea, has to show up better in the desert than woodgrain. Besides, a footed Axis shaft using Hit inserts is the toughest arrow I have.

3R site says these are .204 ID and the Axis arrow are .204 OD. The standard HIT inserts will not work that's why the barebow only 3R arrows come with a halfout.

My bad, thanks for clearing that up. I almost pulled the trigger on a half doz just to see them but rational hit me upside the head and said, “no, you don’t need them!” Still maybe down the road if I could find steel outserts.

M60gunner, I may have misspoken. I shoot the Axis and know I use .204 OD outserts from Ethics but just looked at the Easton sight and am second guessing my previous comment now. But the 3R site does say .204 ID and that is usually what a .246 (or so) OD arrow is. I need to look closer at this, Sorry if I'm wrong.

It says .204 ID which is the same as a HIT insert.
