For me the bottom line is you don't have to do anything the way someone else does.  Try it another way.  It's the easiest way to learn and know for sure whether it works for you and your situation.
And that's all that really counts.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

Bottom line is no a strike plate is not needed.
But they can be helpful with arrow flight, tuning, noise drawing the arrow, and protecting the bows finish.
Experiment and see what works best for you.
