Tab or glove

I'm torn between a glove. Which I've always used since starting trad. And a tab which I feel gives a far superior release. I also think a glove is more efficient as its always ready. Whats everyone's opinion ?

A well made glove that fits will be as good as any tab. I like Bateman Hill style gloves been shooting them for years.

Shot a glove for many years.  Waffled back and forth for a while and now shoot a tab; it just works better for me.  I shoot better with it and it works better for hunting.  I like the Bateman cordovan with the elastic best.

I have never got the hang of a tab.
I feel more secure and accurate with s glove.

I have sat for a restaurant meal only to discover my "Widow" tab spun around on the back of my hand.  That is comfortable.  And easily found.  It is easily adjustable for cold and wearing over gloves.  It works better than a shooting glove in terms of accuracy, in my opinion.  All that said, shoot what you like.

I’ve used a glove for long time. I don’t feel there’s any difference except to me a tab felt like I had less control. Not what I want when conditions aren’t perfect.

Started with a glove.  Shot for years, then went to bare fingers, then a light nylon glove.  Dabbled with a couple tabs during the fingers stage.  Now shoot a Rick Barbee tab exclusively.  Easy to have ready and smooth release.  Even with my poundage bows.  It's a personal choice.  Kinda like recurve or longbow.

I've tried tabs but I dont feel like I'm in control of the arrow. I can't get my hand to relax since it doesn't feel right and I end up plucking like a crazy. I prefer a glove

i have done bear fingers and glove, i prefer a simple tab. you can rotate it around your finger to fiddle with with stuff. (chew-gum-binoculars-zipper-bic lighter-calls-treestands) whatever!
and its easier to get your hand in and out of a snug pocket. and i get a great release with it!

The release is up to the shooter. Fingers, tendons, nerves, need protection via glove or tab. Neither glove or tab are release aides. Therefore nether is superior. Just personal perfection.

I first tried a tab when I got my first longbow back in the 90's. I found it far more convenient than a glove and needs practically no maintenance. It fits over a mid weight glove, which is all I need in the Georgia winter. They are not expensive, and I can carry a bunch of them to the stand. Considering how much stuff I drop out of the stand, that is a real factor. They cost less than a glove as well. Just turn it around on your finger and you can easily handle objects without dropping them. I have found a lot of reasons a tab suits me well and none that a glove does. However, you will find so many that find a glove much more convenient. I use the calf hair style, which is not expensive, so it would be very easy to make a side by side comparison to your glove.

Switch between them I like them both, when I hunt or just shoot in cold weather which is often here I use a glove.

My experience pretty much parallels Fletcher's.  Shot a glove for years, more than 50.  During that time, I tried tabs several times, but they never seemed to work.  Tried a Black Widow tab, and it worked.  Have been shooting tabs (Black Widow and Bateman) for the past several years and don't think I'll ever go back to a glove.  Seems I get a tighter anchor and better release with a tab.  A little slower to put into operation than a glove perhaps, but I've never lost a shot opportunity because I was shooting a tab.

Oh, and I don't have time to "fiddle" with a tab when the shot presents itself.

I started with a tab way back when but kept dropping them out of the tree stand so I went to a glove(Damascus) and never looked back. I think my first Damascus glove cost $9.95 from 3Rivers.

I find a glove, to be a more  practical choice, not necessarily better, but I don't lose them like I will with a Tab..... it's been proven to the point that I just gave up on tabs, and bought a good glove...

I've tried to use numerous tabs and just couldn't get use to them. I'm using either the Bateman Hill style glove with the nylon inserts, or the BearPaw Classic glove.

Glove, can't keep up with a tab.  Killed a few critters when I left my glove Lord knows where. Like said above, neither is a shooting aid, just protection.

If your shooting depends on one or the other, then you have an issue that is not related to either.

Just choose what item works best for protection while you are shooting.
