First kill with a wooden arrow around 20 years ago. I was 15 I think when working my first job at Jeffrey Archery. This is with Owen Jeffery’s personal Classic 60 and wooden arrows I made out of ramen dowels from the hardware store and 125 snuffers. Those were the days! I really haven’t hunted with wood much in the past 10 years  but have really been wanting to get back into to them.

One more with wood arrows for our group. My hunting partners’ son shot his first kill ever this morning with Surewood shafts and a double beveled Zwickey No Mercy

I was blessed with another yesterday. Same setup as earlier. 50 # Wes Wallace Mentor, Surewood shafts. I did change broadheads and try some old Bear Razorheads. They fly wonderful and get extremely sharp.

Broadhead was sticking out the other side and stuck in the dirt. When he turned to run, the arrow broke.

My first traditional kill back from 2015 when I first switched to trad.  Used a POC arrow and Cold Mountain Longbow, both made by Bill Stroupe in NC.  I still mostly use wood—it works and it’s just cool!

I use Sitka Spruce, Fir, and Ramin wood arrows. Wood is all I ever used except for a couple years in the 70’s. Tried aluminum and didn’t like em.
This was earier this year. Full penetration at a steep angle. 45#, Tuff Head.

So far this season.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

Everything I’ve shot in the last 20 years of more has been with wood arrows. I had a year or 2 that I messed with aluminum.

Well....none of my bows have ever been polluted with a carbon or a metal arrow (tongue in cheek guys :saywhat:) only ever shot wood...

It's been awhile since I've been bowhunting, mainly due to the covid thing, but here's a couple of wood arrow critters

Good hunting to you all.
May the wind be your friend, and may your arrows fly true,
Most of all, may the appreciation and the gratitude of what we do keep us humble......
