Any members have any experience elk hunting in GMU 14 or the surrounding Routt Nation Forest area? I am planning my 2021 hunt and looking at new areas.

I have never hunted Unit 14 but I have hunted Unit 4. Just completed a November rifle hunt there in Oct/Nov. for Elk and Mule Deer, with success by the way! Next trip out I hope to be Trad archery. Contact me if I can provide any information.

Thanks for the response and congrats on your success this year! I was in the Gunnison NF for early archery this year. Tough year with the fires and increased hunting pressure. I'm not opposed to GMU 4, I will check it out!

Three of us hunted and we harvested two Bull Elk and One nice Mule Deer buck. The "archery" group - I am tied in with the owners of the cabin we hunt from, harvested two bull elk during early archery. They cheated because they were using "wheelie bows"

My uncle started hunting there some in the 90s, had some luck.
I hunted it a couple of seasons...many years ago...many many years ago. Saw some game. No luck for me. I started hunting down in the San Juan’s...saw more game and had better luck.
Unit 14 got thin on game and crowded on people in the early 2000s. Not sure what it’s like now.

My experience is the guys with 4 wheelers were getting into the elk and we saw some cows, think that was in 2017 I think.

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!
