Question for Mr. Roy
« on: December 17, 2020, 06:40:12 PM »
I don't want to hijack the current BBO build thread. I'm curious as to why you offset the riser 3/4" towards the bottom limb on your bow. I hadn't noticed that detail on any of your previous builds. I'm finally getting back into the shop to make another attempt at a usable bow, and the timing of this build along is perfect, by the way. Thanks!

I have always made symmetrical bows, by centering the riser center on bows center.
That made my arrow shelf 2 inches above the bow center.

My mentor always makes asymmetrical bows by placing the riser center 3/4" below the bows center.
That will make my arrow shelf 1 1/4 inches above the bows center.

Making the bottom limb shorter than the top limb, thus making the bottom limb a tad stronger.
And I will be pulling the string more in the center of the bow.

Thanks, I'll be trying that as well. Looking forward to more installments of the build.

No problem as it's getting deeper and deeper over there:)
