Broadhead Recommendations
« on: December 18, 2020, 01:51:39 PM »
Hey all, I’ve finally got my 41# Kodiak Magnum shooting great with 175 grain heads. My next step is to buy broadheads and get in the woods. What 2 blade, 175 grain broadheads would work well out of this lighter bow? I’ve seen a lot of 150 and 200 grain but not many 175. Any recommendations would be great. Thanks!

I have a few 2 edge Zwickey Eskimos  on aluminum broadhead adapters that weigh approx.175 grains you can try out.  PM me your address and I'll send them to you.

A 125 gr broadhead epoxied on a 45 gr aluminum broadhead adapter will give you 175 gr. There are also some very good 1piece broadheads that weigh in at 175 gr.

I am assuming you are screwing your broadheads into carbon shafts, and not gluing them on woodies?

I have used 175 grain Grizzly single bevels on my carbons and they zip right through the blacktail deer we have here.

BearPaw German Jagers come in 175.

I have used the 125s (on 100gr inserts) with a few deer so far and like them. Haven’t bent or broken one yet, although I don’t abuse them other than hitting a few far side shoulders. Steel holds and keeps a good edge.

So far they are more durable and hold a much better edge than Magnus stingers I had used for years.

What shafts are you shooting? If carbon, then you could shoot an Ethics insert and adjust the insert weight.

I have shot the VPA line for quite awhile now and find them to be easy to tune, easy to sharpen, hold an edge well and go thru deer quite easily.
My DAS is 45 lbs. @ 28" the arrow is 610 gr. with 25% FOC
There is a 175 grain two blade that will work for you.
