back in my wheelie days, i shot a whitetail buck from a treestand with what was then the best expandable head out of a bow shooting 325 amo fps. I tracked it for what seemed like a mile with the most miniscule blood trail (no pass through) and found it laying down still alive at 20yds where i proceded to shoot again. (no pass through again) It ran off again. My dad then decided he would take the next shot at it. We went tracking again and found it laying down again got close and he took the shot this time. It was a quartering away shot at 25 yards and it hit low in the guts and went throught the chest cavity all the way through the front of its chest and exited. The deer just collapsed on its legs. My two arrows penetrated only about 5 inches one time and 2 inches the other. The broadhaed hit a shoulder blade and essentially exploded. Both of these were perfect broadside shots. My dad was shooting a Howard Hill 50# longbow with 165 gr Howard Hill broadhead that he had since the 60s. It still took me a few years to convert to traditional archery but I never used an expandable again.
