OK, I got a small chunk of rosin. I tried it on a couple of calls I was having a bit of trouble with. Wala, they started talking instantly. I think a small rosin bag might work even better, but it definitely does a better job than chalk, and it's water resistant. Now I just need to find something to do with them all.

Do you use violin rosin? I like the idea. Sounds better than chalk. It would probably work great for pot strikers.

Isn’t rosin acidic? I wonder what it’d do to any finishes or surfaces long term. Or even relatively short term for that matter. My buddy is an award winning long time call maker. Gotta ask him that. Interesting

Nice stuff there wood carver. Wish I had a lathe, the one tool I miss.
I don't know the ph of rosin, but since it's a wood product not likely to have any negative affect on wood.
I've got ten more on the bench in various stages of completion now.
