Where to get 98" bandsaw blades
« on: January 18, 2021, 10:12:26 AM »
I have a Grizzly 14 1/2" bandsaw that takes a 98" blade. Timber Wolf doesn't offer one. Where can I get it?

Highland Woodworking sells 98" and I believe BC saw and tool in Toronto does also.

There's a bunch of them on ebay, including Timberwolf.

There's a place near me, Saw Sales and Machinery in Gibsonia, Pa that will make them to the length you request and send them to you. They usually use Lennox blade stock. I've bought quite a few there over the years.

Bandsawbladesdirect.  Com is where I get mine. They make up blades to whatever length you need.

I went ahead and ordered 2 from Grizzly. They'll be here in a few days.

1/2" Woodslicer are really good for slicing lams. Not the kind for you Pat
All these were cut with it, no need to sand to thickness for this bow riser

I use mine for hogging off excess wood from a stave while getting the overall shape for a bow. After that it is a rasp and a scraper for the rest of the work. All selfbows and wood backed bows.

Anybody got a saw that takes  131 1/2"  ?

I have blades that are sharp but wander cutting flat grain veneers so they get hung on the wall...

You'd be welcome to them , I gave Chad Holm a bunch in 2019 .
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Mad Max, you convinced me to give the Woodslicer another look, and then I ordered one just now. I do a good bit of resawing so I'm anxious to give it a try. I'll use it for only that purpose to extend its life as much as possible. I have a quick change tension arm to put on my saw so I'll be able to change blades in a flash.

You have to tune up your blade guides (rollers) and get your fence in line with the cut.
I have cut some .030 with no problems

Don't know what I did wrong, but the last timberwolf blade I put on and tuned is cutting perfect:)

My cuts used to wander a little sideways.

LOL

I'm due to change my roller bearings, got lots of spares, and I'm familiar with my micro adjustable resaw fence. I'll be ready.

The half inch Woodslicer is a marvelous blade for resawing. It is a thin blade so best to use it only for that and not for cutting selfbow staves and such. After that it will not be that good for resawing.

You guys need the thicker bimetal blades. Been using  6/10 VP for resaw against the fence with good results.
If you can find a local blade maker you are better off.
