Lanyard Safety for Neck Knife
« on: January 21, 2021, 01:42:52 PM »
After posting about using neck knives, the issue of getting hung up in the lanyard around your neck came up. I had never thought about that...but with strong paracord, I can see where that could happen in a fall from a tree stand & be a disaster. So I found "Pop Barrel Connectors Safety Breakaway Lanyard Clasps Plastic Buckle for Paracord" on Amazon. They are easy to attach to paracord and have enough strength not to worry about coming undone just wearing around your neck...but do pop open with a little pull. Plus they are very inexpensive...tippit

I use a thin leather thong I bought on a roll from a craft store. It's strong enough to hang a knife but if you yank on it, it will snap. I tested it a couple of times.

Tippit, great idea.  I worked in healthcare for many years and one of the primary concerns was employees being hurt by patients (particularly in the Emergency room or Pysch wards due to patients grabbing an employee ID badge lanyard.  They instituted using the break away toggles, but were still having issues with healthcare workers get hurt because a single breakaway in the back didn't always work (oops!).  The solution then became two "breakaways", on e on each side of the lanyard.  That solved the problem!  Just thought I would add this information.

Thanks again!
