Walk the Talk. On another site. Bow speed testing out of a shooting machine. 10 and 9 GPP
Was a hot rod class also using lower brace and I think a real skinny string.

With a wood bow, if you ask too much of the wood performance drops off quickly. set and loss of high early draw weight and even breakage. loss of arrow speed.

I'm looking over some of these hot rod designs and WTT competition results, and need to ask if similar things happens with some glass bows? Short of catastrophic limb/glass failure, what are the symptoms of core problems associated with designs that ask too much of the materiels?
or from choosing less than top quality core wood?

I keep hearing about core failure on glass bows or crushing, but never see anything.

If your glass bow breaks at the fades you did not make the fades correct

I made a 64" T/D static recurve and the guy draws it to 36"
One just like this.
Limb butt wedges are .036 per inch taper

If you gonna draw that far your wedges probably need to be straight long taper so they will bend some also. Thats what the original reason of a power lam to take the load of the fades. So a long straight taper will do that.

asked a different way, you do not like to see your bows overdrawn from the design draw length?

If the bow does not break, what do you consider the damage to be? speed loss? set taking?

what is your taper rate on your long wedge from 0" to 3" from the feather end

Who has a fiberglass bow that has set in the limbs?
I will post this pictures again
50" NTN, the nocks are 7-1/2" in front of the grip
just to brace this 50" bow the nock moves 15"

This bow below is at least 20 years old and 70#@28"

certainly a performer, cool bow. I asked about set etc, on account of your statement about what you consider overdrawing. and the implications for the bow.

BTW, how wide are the limbs on that shorty?

He told me it smoked a arrow at 36" draw, I was sure it could be drawn to 32".
It's his bow he can draw it as far as he want to.

1.4 at the widest part
