Along the same lines, if you could find an old ground blind somewhere, you could move it around to different places, or take it down entirely if you got tired of it.

I had the opportunity to test out Scott’s range in progress, and even before completion it was top notch! It’s every Bowhunter’s backyard dream come to life.

Stump and I ran down to the river and collected some driftwood. Was anxious to get home and set it out on the range....Left openings for three more 3D targets that I plan to pick up in two weekends...painted a trash can black and placed in front of each of the bears...the smaller cinnamon bear looked good, however the can detracted from the overall 3D setup's appeal...so I tabled the idea for now.

One of the clubs that I shoot at (Conejo Valley Archers) has been known to take a shot out raccoon target, put scoring lines on it's backside and shove it into a trash can laying on it's side. Miss that one and half of the range can hear your arrow going thru the bottom of the can.

Good times !!!

Richard, sounds like a realistic setup for a shot at a trash panda!  :bigsmyl:

  Really Nice!
You might try old Christmas trees . They are cheap and at all the thrift stores.
Those carpet targets are great.  I can see there will be some in the yard someday here.
During covid lock down I made some 3d targets with the same foam Rhinehart uses (I think) Expensive stuff. Some great ideas here.

Doug S....have contemplated utilizing artificial Christmas trees since I have been using them for blind camo for years. Sanitation saves them for me. There are approximately 100 artificial Christmas trees current at the farm.

100 trees's!!!!!  That is a bit excessive! :knothead:  No wonder no one else can find a Christmas tree!   What are you going to do with them?    Your targets are almost to nice to shoot.
So far I have made 7-8 3d targets. Last night my first duck. All my shots are from the deck.

Many years ago Cabela's use to have a Hometown Heroes Sale for public safety folks. Being a Trooper at that time, I qualified and thanks to saving up my overtime, I was able to snag a bunch of Cabela's brand 3-D targets (made for Cabela's by Delta) for a really good price. They're not really that heavy-duty BUT are perfect for stick bows. Through the years I added a few more targets and now have a walk-through bow course with 11 targets, complete with a ladder stand to shoot two of the targets from. I tried to make it as kid friendly as possible; each target can be shot from point-blank range out to 30+ yards or more in the woods; and 50-60 yards for the pronghorn target out in my field. It makes for a convenient  evening shoot after supper. Now...if I could just keep our western Maryland bears from knocking them over and/or dismembering them!   :banghead:

A 3" fire hose cut into 2' lengths slipped over a block of wood and a 6" square of plywood for a base makes a good target for judo points. I built several of these then borrowed a walk behind brushog . I have a couple of walking trails on my place that go thru some nasty brush. I cut some side trails just a hog wide and all different lengths to set these targets in. When friends come over to shoot they walk the course then go shoot it but you never know what your next shot will be because each shooter can move the target after he shoots it. It is a great way to spend the day playing outdoors.

Great, now I have to start collecting carpet and Christmas trees. Wife’s gonna kill me. You don’t happen to have a bunk house next to your playground do you?

This is my humble course right now. The big burlap bag is the size of an elk.
The bedded deer gets a pass.
