Air hose leaks
« on: March 13, 2021, 12:10:29 PM »
Hey folks, trying to set up my air hose.
Got one of them kits from Big Jim.
Its leaking at both ends on those fittings
Maybe I have placed the hose clamps wrong?
I clamped on the large parts and away from the small area in the middle. Thoughts?

I find that hose clamps can leave a little gap where the screw is... I also find it best to wrap the hose about tree times with a heavy cloth, put the hose clamps right next to each other and keep the screws on the clamps away from each other...  A little soft soap on the plug may help seal it also...

I noticed when I pulled that plug it had some hose fiber inside where it sealed. Probably didnt help.
Gonna try your method  Shredd

Put the clamps next to each other and orientate the tightening nuts on opposite sides, 180 degrees from each other.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

One clamp on the part with the grooves. The other in the center where the plug is dipped in with the screws 180 from each other.

I'm with stic
You need a socket to tighten it up and a bucket of water
I check mine every time in the bucket of water before glue up

If you use a hot box to cure the glue, the hose will settle in and stop leaking after 4 or 5 bows.
Just for your Info. 50 to 60 # of air is plenty

I just put one together last night with plugs and clamps from Big Jim. One clamp on the grooved section and one in the radius section. I also use Blue Monster pipe thread sealant on the valve stem. I aired it up and left it overnight last night and no leaks.
