As frequent shooters, I would bet we practice more on draw form and releasing the arrow rather than target acquisition. I've been able to develop a stronger form by making practice sessions all about getting into my anchor and "seeing" my sight picture. Never releasing an arrow. Similar to drills of drawing and not shooting, but making a deliberate emphasis on getting into the sight picture and hold it. From there I drill the slight back pull, focusing on the rear elbow movement. Still no shots released. In fact I can go a full session without releasing an arrow. This has helped me ease my tension on the shot, slow my shot process where I feel I am in control and overall better shooting. I know most of us who practice shooting need to release an arrow but sometimes we need to practice on what actually contributes to the shot more so than the release. I would argue that if you do everything your supposed to the release is the easiest part of the process.
