Help - problem with T-bird finish!

I've been using Thunderbird finish for the last 2 years with no problem what-so-ever. I recently purchased 2 cans and am now experiencing a very strange problem. The finish initially sprays on just fine but then in about 5 minutes it starts to "foam" in areas and creates a big mess. I can't think of anything I'm doing different from before other than using a new lot. Has anyone ever experienced this problem before?

Actually it's more like a mass of tiny blisters. And it's not everywhere, just in spots. I've sanded it down, but they come right back. And not in the same spots necessarily. I'm having the same problem on two different bows. I've tried cleaning the bows down with acetone and MEK before I spray, but it seems to make no difference. I've never seen anything like this - it's weird.

did you work with a product that contains silikon lately?
if so,that might cause those blisters.
even 1 molecule of silicon will cause blisters and stop allmost any finish from laying down nice.
avoid to have those product at all.
if its in the house,its everywhere.

Shantam may be onto something.  Some sandpapers, I believe those wet/dry sandpapers that are black, use silicon carbide grit, I was told by the guys at Van Dee that it's a bad thing to use.  They said grey sandpaper used a non silicon type grit.

Maybe that's it, though I'm using the same sandpaper I've always used in the past.   :confused:

Gordon, I had the same problem a few years back with a piece of furniture I was refinisfing, kept getting "fish-eye". To make a long story short, I had to put a coat of shellac on, then finish. I was useing Deft lacquer, it was their recomendation, it worked. They claimed silicon from Pledge was the cause. I just bought a new batch of TBird myself and have had no problems, so I would'nt think it was the finish.
