I'm obviously a 'detail kinda guy'. . . I notice everything . . . comes from working in the MI prison system for 25+ years.  Didn't know there was a point to Pines post . . . guess I'm not real bright!   I'll send back my MENSA card.  Just Kidding . . .  :laughing:

 Right.   To see if people stay on the intended topic. which is about my deer hunt.

 If I would have seen that tree stand while I was trespassing I would have used it. Looks like it would work for a 66" bow nicely.  Climbers are the best though especially the kind without the bar. My wife is someone's neighbors daughter BTW. I got her without the use of a bar.

  Red broadheads spook game in my experience. That's why I have never used one. Or ever will.
I used to hunt deer until I discovered gated Bison. I don't even care that P&Y won't accept them. P&Y says that the half rack 7pt elk I shot had no rack! scored 0! A cow. This is the best thread ever BTW.
I think Terry shot a gated Bison too. From what I read here.
Thanks for all the tips on tree stand safety and broadhead tree carving.

Glad to see someone else uses their Elkamino for hunting.  Probably killed that dandy with one of Roy's relic heads.  Heard those points hit like a rock!  Why I remember when I was just a tenderfoot . . . well, no, actually I can't remember that far back, but I still know how to sharpen a good broadhead so it can shave a cats meow maker without ever waking him up!  Now back to the topic(s) . . .

The buck on page one, and the doe here, both were taken with the same color broadhead. As was one of the trees. But no blood is visible on any. Would it have been better if I had used a Red broadhead like in the original post? :deadhorse:

The red broadheads do work well, but the dead deer I've spoken with seem to prefer black, non-perferated broadheads with mirror-like shiney, super sharp edges the best.  But that's Michigan deer, it may well be different in other parts of the country.

Remember these's, "Raptor's" I killed several deer with them, the serated edge sure did a good job. I shot a early season 8 pt. buck with one that was walking along the edge of a bean field, I made a bad hit, high and too far back. He ran out in the field and stopped at about 60 yards just standing there looking back. I thought about shooting again but thought better because of the long shot. Suddenly he dropped dead, I had nicked an artery and he bled to death in a very short time.

Raptors are out of business now so I've serated some of my Ace Standerd heads. I call them the "LaClair Lacerator's" I killed a buck with one and gave the head to Bob of Ace Archery. He keeps it in his box, ask him at a show and he will show it to you.

Great idea, Ron.

I've done that with some serrated kitchen knives that were worn down.

Used a Dremel tool to serrate them again then buffed on a buffing wheel, made them like new.
