So... I've got a new longbow coming tomorrow a 62 inch Kota longbow that shoots 52lbs at 28 inches, when I go to bareshaft where should I start for spine? I have a bare 500 spine with a 100 grain brass insert. My overall goal is to shoot an arrow that is 600 grains or better any info tips help would be appreciated

If you draw 28 inches, a 500 cut to 29 inches BOP with a 100 grain insert and 150 grain point should work quite well. However, depending on the shaft you're using, that will yield an arrow in the 500-525 grain range. If you add another 75 to 100 grains up front to get an arrow in the 600 plus range, the 500s likely won't be stiff enough. Probably need to go to a 400 in that case.

If you want 600gr, go with a .400 spine at full length with a 100gr insert. Then experiment with point weight and shaft length till you get your tune right.

Never hurts to ask the bow maker.... I learned that years ago when I bought a Fedora. Mike was spot-on with his recommendation. All of the carbon arrow choices make it harder today but it might save you time and money.
