Experiment time

What an amazing find.
This is Box elder just above the root ball.
It was cut about a year ago and its dried out good.
I found this with some spalting.
I know a Red Neck way of stabilizing wood and this looks like a good candidate to try it with.

Slow going but I have the blade blanked out and the guard shaped.
Need to heat treat the blade next.

The knife is not finished yet but this thread is about the wild caught Boxelder wood.
I have cut a bunch of blank blocks from this wood and sent to a friend of mine that has the proper stabilizing equipment.
 :goldtooth: I'm quite pleased with how this wood looks. some of the other chunks have the peach flames in them.  :goldtooth:
