3:1 Ratio Broadheads
« on: May 29, 2021, 04:04:51 PM »
Hello everyone, still enjoying this new journey into the traditional world. Slowly getting better everyday. What all options are out there for 3:1 ratio broadheads? Ive seen the Tuffheads and Woodsman 3 blades but havent came across many others yet. Prefer a 2 blade and will likely be aiming around 175 to 200gr give or take a little. Thanks in advance!

I got mine from a guy in Australia at a nice price of $60 for a dozen Broadheads....
I have one burried in the back of a Beaver skull....

The Gentleman that made them had a Business.
But please don't ask me to remember who, I have trouble most days trying to remember if I had lunch....
I do remember that he would ship you the order and then after you got them, You paid him.
Until someone refused to pay him....
The ones I have are 125 gr.... I think I still have 11 of them, The 12 one is in the Beaver Skull....
Text me, And I'll send you a picture of the Skull 209-968-4179

Since you you stated that you are relatively new to traditional archery, I don't have much of an answer for you, other than don't necessarily think that you need to be using a "3:1" broadhead.  There are other options available that may even work better for you, depending on what bow/arrow you are using and the game that you are chasing.

Outback Broadheads in Australia make a head called the 'Supreme' that comes in  130gn and 200gn for screw in, and 230gn for glue on. That might be one of the ones being referred to in this thread.

The Supreme is one of my favourite heads but the cutting edge comes back past the front of the arrow so if your arrows are cut fairly short for your draw length you might find the heads impact the shelf of your bow. It's obviously only a minor issue.

The company also makes broadheads called 'Stealths' that are close to a 3:1 ratio as well.

Def understand that. Ive been archery hunting and shooting compounds for close to 20 years now. Just new to the traditional game. I just figure for this first year a 3:1 or relatively close to it will be my best mechanical advantage. Will be whitetail hunting but current bow is 35lb@28in rd longbow. I figure heavy arrow, good mechanical advantage head and shots inside 20yds should produce nice results. I do appreciate all input though from everyone!

Well, if I was using that setup, I personally would certainly be using a 2 blade, and probably a long skinny one at that.  Good luck.  In the right spot, and it probably won't matter on deer anyway.  Good luck.  I hunted with compounds for around 27 years before I made the switch.  Lot's of fun ahead of you.

I never considered the outback supreme when trying to think of Aussie made 3:1 heads for this thread because they aren't 3:1. Just like the grizzly heads aren't 3:1 with the exception of the kodiak.

Yeh. The front page of their website says 3:1 but when you read the description of the Supreme in the shop section it says "close to a 3:1 ratio".
