Built a new stand for my bag target over the weekend
« on: June 01, 2021, 10:33:52 AM »
The wooden stand I had built to hold my bag and moose target was getting rickety so I decided to design one out of PVC pipe that I think will hold up better. I am a nerd at heart with access to some expensive, high-end 3D modeling software so I really enjoyed designing the new stand. I even modeled the carabiners clipping the bag to the eye bolts. I built the real thing over the weekend and, in this case, life really does imitate art!

Very nice.   How much did the materials cost?

Thanks all. I will gladly share the plans and bill of material with anyone who wants them. The total cost was around $100.

The material is all 1 1/2 SCH 40 PVC except for the 2" PVC sleeves the uprights go into. I did that so I could easily swap out uprights for my moose target.

Helluva good job!👍
What does the backstop look like?  With it that tall it has to be pretty big.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

Attached are the plans and bill of material for this stand. It is made from 1 1/2" SCH 40 PVC except for the upright sleeves which are 2" SCH 40 PVC. I made the upright assembly detachable because I need one of a different height for my moose target.

All the length measurements are based on using Charlotte Pipe fittings. Other fitting manufacturers may have different insertion depths.

I glued the left and right braces together and the upright assembly. The horizontal cross pieces are just dry fitted into place. That way it can be easily taken apart for storage or transportation.

My email address is on the plans so you can contact me if you have any questions.

I made a much simpler PVC stand that worked great, the rubber tie downs keep the bag pulled tight. I even put one in my basement for my Ames deer target.

I decided that a roof was needed over my outside bag target for longevity. The roof is sitting on 4 posts, you can't see the back two.

I miss too much for that!!!  I need a big back stop!  LOL

Looks great - I like the point to hang a swinging target from.

Looks Great ! Sure like that idea with the clay target . There’s something good about shooting at a target, that breaks ,makes noise or throws a puff of smoke .
If you can shoot just one arrow in control, you can shoot all of them in control !
