There was a time when tradgang was nothing but trad archery related

Can you please show me where that is stated?  I'm confused because there is no mention of trad archery.

I hope I didn't 'kill the thread'..... not much interest in posting since I did it seems, which was not my intent.  :campfire:

I'm still here too and can't wait for tonight's episode.  :jumper:  Your post was sorely needed, Terry.  It's so easy for threads to go off the tracks that they need to be brought back on course.

I for one would like to know from someone down under why is it that traditional Bow hunters can't sponsor a traditional Bow hunting website with their products that we use in camp? I doubt I'll get an answer, because there is no rational one.

I never said that traditional bow hunters shouldn't be sponsors regardless of their products. This site has a wonderful list of sponsors with great products.

To get to my point, I wouldn't expect to see a thread about tyres on my truck that I use to drive to hunting
camp. I just always thought tradgang was about trad archery and things of immediate relevance.

No offense intended or taken.

You stated trad archery related.  Thanks for proving my point.

And you doubled down by stating trad archery again two posts up.

OK, guys, can we just get back to the discussion of Alone?  If you don't want to, please start another thread for this stuff that is totally irrelevant to the subject matter in the title of the thread.  What part of that don't you get???

I'm a huge fan of the show too - I think it's pretty real.  Sure it's edited, but it's edited from 1000's of hours of self-filming while out there.  If you watch the shows, you can literally watch the people that spend significant time out there lose serious weight.  They aren't doing that because they choose too...

The fishing rod comment is throwing me on this thread.  If you watch the show - some try to not use a rod or some type of device and the brutal wind simply keeps them from getting a bait in the water.  Seems that some method of deployment other than hand lining/casting is a must.

Ok folks, I'm not good with names... :dunno:

But, the guy who built the boat REALLY impressed me!!!
At first, it looked like a bad accident waiting to happen... :scared:
Now?? It looks like a game changer!!! :clapper:
Also, he seemed to really kinda keep his cool when buck naked against a Grizzly Bear :o

Thanks, Terry.  Yes, the boat thing looks like it could be a big help.  The previews of next week did show Clay shooting at something.  Hope he scored.  So far things have been really slow in the food gathering.  That has to change.

Fell asleep half way through last night's episode, I'll catch the rest tonight. I really liked the fellas boat build (curious to see if he dares try it in rougher weather and bigger waves, I wouldn't!) and the other fella that built the door for his cabin, pretty ingenious!

Terry, thanks for trying to keep this thread on the rails. If I wanted to hear an argument, I'd just do something to make my wife mad. :biglaugh:

As for the fishing rod....
I'm very impressed with some of the ingenious things these folks build!! I also believe that building something, keeps their mind off the isolation. Idle hands, make a busy mind...
Most of the folks "hand lineing" seem to have a problem with a tangle of loose line at their feet. Or, the tangle getting caught up and dragged out... By building a rod, with some type of contraption for a reel, I think they are trying to eliminate that??

Hence the Beer can... (piece of wood?)
It acts like a simple bow fishing reel, providing tangle free line storage and retrieval...
They could throw it out in the morning, when the wind is calm, wedge it in the rocks, and let it set...
They could work on their shelter, gather wood, hunt and forage, while fishing. They could even set out several lines, like snares?? They could also leave them overnight, when fish tend to come into shallow water??

I like the show!!! :clapper:
