Best hip quiver for 3D shoots
« on: June 08, 2021, 01:38:02 PM »
Been bowhunting with trad gear for 49 years, but have never done any shoots. There are a couple of local 3D shoots I would like to attend. What design of hip quiver do you like for shoots or just the back yard. If you can put a picture on that will be great, probably have a friend of mine build it, but need a design.
Thanks,
Bert

My first hip quiver was made by King. The style can be seen in catalogs like 3Rivers. My main issue was length and how many arrows I could carry. I did use it as a model to make my own. I made it longer, made it wider, used heavier leather. That was way back when. Since I have made about a dozen for family and me. Making one right now to match a new bow coming in.

McDave, that style of quiver is in my future. Our rec center people have a building that will be used as an indoor archery range as well as other things. That type quiver is a must when standing on the line in close proximity to other shooters. Something about your nocks in their body parts using a hip quiver.

I’ve got a black widow hip quiver for maybe 20 years or more. It’s never failed me. I’m no fan of the on the back type. Too much work imo. I’d say any decent size hip quiver

Food for thought....
If you like a hip quiver butt want your arrows facing forward, If your right handed by a lefty....And wear it on the right..

Field quiver like M60 indicates.  Back in the day of field shooting it ruled.  Never liked the type where the arrows pointed forward.

I personally like field quivers. Same sort of concept but arrows face backward.
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.

I shoot with a bow quiver on my bow. For 3-D shoots, I use a simple back pocket quiver to hold an extra 6 arrows.
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!
