I've been extremely lucky with turkeys again this year. I've spent about 45 minutes actually hunting birds and my son and I have both scored. My son took his during the first 30 minutes of the youth season and I got one opening morning. Worked just like on TV. We get to the edge of the woods elicit a shock gobble, move in and set up, do a few tree yelps, do a fly down cackle, yelp a few more times, the birds strut in, and we make a good shot. My son shot his first bird ever with a shotgun. It was a nice jake. I was fortunate and took a bird with 1" spurs and a 9 3/4" beard.
