New Bow
« on: April 30, 2008, 05:05:00 PM »
I got a new bow over the weekend.

It is a 63 1/2" Herters 40#@28. I was wondering what type of arrows I should get. I think I have a 29" draw but when I was out shooting with my uncle he thought it was a little too long... so I really dont know.

Nice looking bow!  I would think a 1916 aluminum or .600 spine carbon would be close for you depending on how heavy of an arrow you want to shoot.
I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables!

1916 should do it, and I would also try 1816.

Wanna try some of mine? I have Sundays and Wednesdays off, and shoot over near Fountainhead. Oh dear, I dunno if I have any arras that long. Better let me shoot it and we'll guesstimate.   :bigsmyl:

Tapered ash, cut to 29" BOP, 40-45# spine oughta get it done. Cedars about the same, or 5# higher. I have some at 28", but 29 is...um, out of my reach. Sorry!   :biglaugh:

Yeah Allen I was at Dixie with it. My Uncle had brought it and another bow for me to try down with him since my old one was a 30#. I was shooting so well with it that he decided that he would get it for me. I love how it shoots.

Killdeer I would be glad to let you shoot it. But unfortunately I am unavailable for the next couple weeks. But as soon as I have time I would be glad to go to a shoot with you.

Going to Baltimore for the Trad Classic? (5/16-5/18)
I'll practice my left-handed shooting...  :archer:

Does she like horses? There are horses boarded there that she can watch and pet. She can hang out at my camp (I will bring two chairs and a shady canopy) and they serve a great chicken dinner, and barbecue beef, all cooked on a big grill there. Byron Ferguson will be there doing performances, and there is a real flush toilet. If she birdwatches, there are lots of good birds there, too. It is a very family-friendly shoot.

Lemme see...any angles I missed?  :bigsmyl:
