Fantastic, what a great story and hunt.  Congratulation on a great moose, the meat will bring back the memories.

Well done Walt, as usual!  Sorry that we missed you in Fairbanks, would have loved getting all the details in person.  Guess I’ll have to wait until Reno.  Congrats!

Well done! Thanks for sharing.
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

After trimming and cutting, 520#’s total.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Fine bull buddy.

Can't think of anybody I'd rather go on a solo moose hunt with.  :wavey:

Congrats and thanks for sharing. I’ll have to think about this next time I’m wore out and complaining from dragging a #80 doe.

Thanks for the complements, they are appreciated.

Felix,
I hope you have an enjoyable and successful hunting season.

Jacob,
Hope you and Carly are doing well.

Pigger was retired after last season.

The new bow I built and used for this hunt is Hooligan, named after my two redbone hounds Addie & Molly (I think you have met both of them).  Quite often the hounds find a way to get into tough predicaments, which are usually just as tough on me.  My wife always refers to them as “The Hooligans” for their ability to seek out and find trouble.  After the new bow killed the moose, I figured she had gotten me into a predicament equal to anything Addie & Molly have gotten me into.  Standing on the gravel bar where the moose died, looking at it, itemizing the steps needed to butcher and then pack it to the pickup lake, I named her Hooligan.

I was wondering about the origin of that unusual bow name....

We sure are, I was just up in Twin Bridges this weekend for my buddies wedding-sure do miss Montana however Bozeman is just outrageous with their home prices. We are considering Wyoming or Alaska when Carli is done with nursing school next year!

Yes I was able to meet the pups, hopefully they are doing well!
