Hey guys!  I finally finished my first bow.  It took me awhile but I think it came out pretty good.  I am pretty happy about it.  It is the Bingham Projects Take-down recurve bow.  It is 58" and I hit 47# at 28" draw with it.  I appreciate all the help from you guys on this forum.  That was huge in aiding my success on this.  It's not perfect but I ended up with a good looking shootable bow.  One of my daughter's who told me she had her doubts said "Dad that is a legit bow!"

I made videos of each step of the process so that someone who has never done it before can see what all is involved as well as the mistakes and corrections I had to make along the way.   I'll post links to those once I get the final one edited.

My hats off to all you guys who use nothing but hand tools. I used power tools up until the final sanding and man I can't imagine the man hours involved with just using hand tools or the craftsmanship involved.

Anyway thanks again guys for all the help!

Thanks guys I appreciate it!  I have pretty much been on cloud 9 since getting this done.  There were several steps along the way where I thought oh boy, this is ain't gonna work, but each time, got through it and learned a ton in the process.

Well I had shoulder surgery on my left shoulder in 2018 and then had shoulder surgery on my right shoulder this past February so I am afraid to go much more than that.  It took probably a solid year or more for me to get to the point where my left shoulder was fully healed, so from what I feel and what I can do I think my right shoulder is still in the long healing stage.  I was actually a little concerned that once I finally got this built if I was going to be able to even use it!

Oh crap! Sorry to hear that, rotator cuff tears?

If it's any consolation, it looks like you have been doing your P.T.

Fortunately no.  I had bone spurs in my left shoulder that I dealt with for a couple of years until it became really hard to sleep at night due to the aching so I had that one done.  Finished PT, started working out again, and then I got a slap tear in my left shoulder.  The muscles were able to hand more than the cartilage could I guess so I apparently over did it.   Once I got to about 90% on that one, the right shoulder started having similar pains as the left one did.  So again, it was bone spurs and impingement issues there as well.  But yea P.T. is real important when it comes to that stuff.  But it takes a long time to heal fully.
