One of my first carbon hunting arrows vs. what’s currently in my quiver.
The old arrow was from 2007 and this was the time I discovered the Ashby Study. At that time There wasn’t much in the form of aftermarket adapters or inserts to increase foc. Not many options for single bevel Broadheads. Grizzly required alor of manual work to change the bevel and get sharp. This was before I discovered KME as well. I used arrow tubes to get the weight up to 550 grains which was considered heavy at the time within my little bowhuntint circle.
Fast forward to 2021 and have virtually eliminated my use of screw in Broadheads, through research and the forums discovered how to foot my arrows with aluminum and use glue In/glue on adapters to increase structural integrity. I have several great options for a good, high MA single bevel Broadhead and have mastered the art of the KME sharpening system.
Through the practice of bareshaft tuning in combination with high and extreme foc, have reduced my feather profile to a 2”x3 feather configuration. This allows for a quieter arrow that helps increase foc.
The old arrow obviously worked and I used it to kill a few whitetail and a handful of hogs before evolving to where I am now.
