So happy for you, buddy! After you sent me that picture this morning, I was hoping to hear the story. Dang, you created some serious work for yourself! Glad you made it out safe with all the goodies. Congratulations on a great buck, and thanks for taking us along on the adventure.  I find that many times in the field quartering and packing them out to be much easier than dragging the whole deer.  It "almost" makes it feel like I'm in the Rockies, or the wilds of AK!

Most of my deer seem to be at sunset.  A couple years ago, faced a similar problem as you with the darkness.  My solution was to put a small reflective tac on the tree beside my deer.  It worked so well, I've done it several times since.

So many tacks in my woods from many different hunters through the years. I made my own out of a close pin and got some of that reflective tape they use on buses stick on both sides . you hit that with a flashlight see 1/4 mile away or more . I use for blood trail at night too. just clip on or off a branch .
