Elkheart & Helms Deep comparison
« on: December 06, 2021, 07:22:11 PM »
On the list for another Java Man... already have an Elkheart, love it! Had an Assyrian which has found it's way to my son - keep em in the family. So, my days of tree climbing are pretty much over and I'm considering a 56" Helms Deep as it looks pretty comparable to my Elkheart but shorter by 2". This'd be nice on the ground, in or out of a blind.
Thought I'd see "what say ye" to those that've owned or shot both... are they quite similar, especially in the grip department? Appreciate any observations you might have.

I am a recurve guy but when it comes to Javaman bows I have always bought the Elkheart without any regrets. Now Gregg just posted his shorter version the Magnum Elkheart 50-52-54” . Gregg says that the 50” doesn’t stack up to 29-1/2”.

I have owned both. I liked them equally well.  I think if you like one you will like the other just as well.

I prefer the Elkheart myself, not much if any difference in speed and the longbow is quieter.   Plus, you don't have to carry a stringer with you.

I have a 56 inch Helms Deep. It is a great stand from the ground or tree but for some reason, I can't get great arrow flight. It may just be my form but I prefer my 56 inch Great Northern Ghost - which is faster too.
