How I started, must have been 11 or 12 years old. Indian Lemonwood bow and .35 arrows. Just plain fun, took me a year before I got one but I didn’t care. Miss those days

I'm not capable of doing that anymore, but it sure brought back some fond memories.  :goldtooth: :archer:

Dunno where they are but dang our rabbits seldom give us close slow shots like that.  But that looks like lots of fun.  Cool vid.

Brings back some great memories.  Bunch of us would get together every weekend this time of year and chase rabbits. 30 years ago we were the odd bunch with longbows and recurves.  Couple of stories. One big field we used to hunt was grown up in weeds and is now a shopping center, but we were in there with our bows one morning and couple of guys we didn’t know where on the other side with shotguns. Should have seen their faces when we came out with 4 rabbits and they had none.
Another time we had a couple new guys with us that were still compound guys. We had a rabbit come running down a hill past all of us. It came past every body and I was the last one. I rolled it with a perfect running shot and those guys could not believe it.

JLMBH Flashback!!!!! :archer:

Sure was a grand time every year!!
President's Day weekend, every year. We would all gather a Shawn Leonard's house in Selkirk, NY for the annual
"Joan Leonard Memorial Bunny Hunt" named after Shawn's mom. Sadly, about 2009 or 2010, It just got to be too big for Shawn and his wife Cindy to handle... Last hunt was about 96 people, if my old memory is correct...??

Damn it was one hell of a fun time!!!!!
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

Up here at this time of the year the rabbits are totally white except their eyes, nose and ear tips.  You couldn’t see them if you stepped on one.  We always hope for a really late snowfall, so they have turned white and don’t realize it.

Technically those aren't rabbits.  They are snowshoe hares or varying hares.  Tons of fun to run with beagles and decent table fare as well.

I had a very aggressive basset hound. she would retrieve out of water, she pointed two cock pheasants and they froze in place one day, (the day after pheasants season closed). She had one problem, the first thing she would do when we went hunting was poop in the car.  Then after finding and running rabbits for hours and we would get back in the car, she would poop in the car again. The was very best hunting dog I ever had. It helps to be able to shoot fast and have a slow dog with rabbits.
