I’ve got everything ready for glue up in the morning. Screwed up my original riser block I was going to use  :banghead: :banghead:. Luckily I had a big chunk of black walnut laying around so I was able to cut out a new riser out of that. Hopefully I’ll have some pictures to post in a day or so.

That looks great Stic.

Dannon, have you had any luck with walnut in a riser? I had one break and it’s scared me off from it. I have some Claro walnut but I’ve been putting off using it. I don’t like the looks of Ibeam’s.

4point, I’ve never used it before! I figured it was a pretty hard wood, now you got me second guessing it! I may need to order another block from Kenny. Thanks for the heads up!

I wouldn’t listen to me. Could’ve been bad luck. Maybe someone else will weigh in that has more experience with it.

If you use the walnut be sure your edge grain is front to belly. An Ibeam of stronger wood would be best. And glass on the front don't hurt either.

Word to my victim. This black locusts riser is kinda wavy grain wise being soft a hard parts. Will get it as level as possible. Probably will end up with a dull heavy matte or I call it a spatter finish.

We’ll I guess I’ve officially made some progress. Got my riser glued up yesterday and fit to my form this afternoon. Hopefully this coming weekend I can get it glued up.
